Here we are - back to normal, back in business! And that for a month already again. The way through Mexico was surprisingly
uncomplicated, the Mexicans sure know how to clean up quick after one of those hurricanes.
Business is alright, tourist season coming up so we hope for a little boost. There is a new internet place in town which of course takes away something, but we're still doing alright.
More and more people discover the Windschief's Mojito, the Peppermint Plant looks terrible right now, anyone have an idea how to give that a turbo grow?
Oh - big event - Saturday Night Full Moon Party! on the Dec. 17th DJ U will be in action again, so if you didn't have a reason to come to Belize so far - THIS IS IT!
But here the main announcement: We - Pam and me - have settled on our Wedding Date - it will be the 22nd of April 2006! According to that the Windschief will be closed for at least 5 days around this day.
...here some shots from last weeks Wednesday Night Clash featuring guests from Oregon with the latest in DJ-ing technique - SERATO - and some pix from yesterdays surf-session....
Alright, we were supposed to be in Playa del Carmen right now, dragging our heavy bags to the bus terminal to go home, BUT I think nobody wants to be in PdC right now anyway and for us it was not possible to reach there.
Due to devastating Wilma the Cancun Airport is closed. Our airline (Condor) canceled all flights up to the 13th of November. We could only get seats on the 15th, so we plan to reopen the Windschief on
18th of November - just in time for Garifuna Settlement Day on the 19th!
On top of all the weblog server crashed, mi brodda posted some news (inna german) on that topic.
Well, three weeks inna di Kleinmachnow-Jail, it's not so bad after all, at least we get to do all the things we missed, 'cause four weeks was to short anyway :o)
Believe it or not, the Windschief goes on tour and will be closed from Sept. 25thto Oct. 28th.
Destination: Berlin/Germany!
Yeah gotta check, what happened over there the past two years, freeze my butt off a little, meet family and friends, refresh the taste of German beer and so on and so on. Pam is gonna come with me and she's also very excited about it...
To the webpage - the cabana-side is finished, with all the pix and video streams.
Wanna rent a cabana? Wanna drink a Mojito? Wanna be part of the first Windschief Beach Volley Tournament?
yepp thats the news, finally the cabanas are ready, although one is occupied by my nephew Alex for the next couple weeks, which is also why I was not able to put up pictures of that one yet 'cause he has to clean up first :o)
(pictures and video streams in "our beach cabanas" under "location")
The second yepp goes to the Mojitos! My Peppermint bush is coming up and just two days ago we served the first Mojito (probably ever served in Hopkins).
Another yepp about the daily action at the volley ball net and the idea of having a tournament. We will have games from this weekend on, the Grand Finals will be on Hopkins Day!
So now WHO needs more reasons to come down here?????
cu
A small update on the site - Pam's page is getting there, including new pics which u also can see on the page "websurfing" in the left menu.
Fasten your seat belts people, at least the Germans among you, additionally to my news which I update not too often as you know I have a Weblog (in German) now! so click here!
Ok ok after all those emails I think I gotta put something in here again!
I'm still here, very alive, working, relaxing, surfing, waiting for official docs like Police Record (for the residency visa) and Hotel License.
I also very much enjoy the company of my friends Knut, Diana & Manuela, who are enjoying their last days of an almost 3 week vacation.
We went fishing, visited the Old Mayas in Caracol, they are trying my skills as a windsurfing teacher, they deep-fry in the sun - looks like they love it here! They even help working, Knut is a master of the paint brush! :o)
As to the projekt - we officially opened the Beach Bar, you can have all kinds of cocktials and other stuff. (btw - if somebody comes down here through Mexico - BRING TEQUILA! awefully expensive in Belize!)
Then we finally moved the kitchen in the new place (Knut is also great in carrying fridges around!). Lots of wonderfull meals made by my dearest Pam already came out of there...
Internet business was very good during the high season, its slowing down now, but we hope with the bar and later the cabana rental (from June on) we will survive :o)
Many greetings from Hopkins to the rest of the world!
Bis spädda...
What - a month didn't pass yet and I'm updating the news! well well here come some more pix outta Tottie'n'Melli's camera....
What else happened? Went fishing again - burned my nose, that's what happened! This time we weren't successful like when we went with T&M, only one Baracuda and some small ones.
Last sunday we explored another waterfall right "'round the corner" - nice one! Forgot to take the cam though, so no pix, who want to see have to come and see with own eyes!
Business is running great - season's kickin' in finally!
The internet room in the new building is just about finished - I painted the just built tables, now the seats left to put in and done! It's about time we clear at least one of the cabanas - in Feb. my parents and my aunt from Cleveland/OH come down here - I'm looking forward to see all of them again.
Stay real and don't do anything I wouldn't do!
bye
HAPPY NEW YEAR!The first post for 2005, I have some news to pick up. One great thing we've accomplished - and you might not believe it to be one, but we have hot water now! As I mentioned before it's kinda chilly down here these days, so I'm really happy about that (boy you must think "that guy has problems..." yeah I'm telling ya, dealing with back-to-the-roots-problems is fun, |
BUT the honor is NOT mine only, I had help - Sir "I dig any hole anywhere" Torsten did a great job, moved a lot of sand and proved his skills in (belizean) plumbing.
Just before the last day of the year Tottie & Melli took refuge in NY, probably thinking they could get away from the work - well you'll be back right? I'll find something then :o) nuuhh jus' kidding! We've had an awesome time together here, thanks for everything and for your help (also the bar floor and much more carries their finger prints)
Something else I can't hide - yes I am 30 now, can't believe it myself, but everybody keeps telling me, so it must be true. Nevertheless the day of defeat was a great one - Pam organized a surprise party and I completly fell for it - had no clue! Was much fun though! thanks to everybody!
At this point also big thanks for all the dear wishes from overseas, I'm not forgotten yet!
New Years Eve was a rather quiet but nice party with Pam's family in Sittee River. I tried that punta dance again, failed again and had to make room for two of Pam's uncles, who can really shake it! The only German I'd pick for learning that is my friend Knut, and he'll hopefully be here in April and prove me right!!!!
Now back to normal life, open the doors at 9.00 am, working on the building, waiting for wind and using it when it comes, etc etc...
jus' enjoy the moment (that one MUST be from Falk B.!)
later alligators!
